Week 17 What do you think?

Who are “YOU“?

“All of us are dynamos, but the dynamo of itself is nothing; the mind must work the dynamo; then it is useful and its energy can be definitely concentrated. The mind is an engine whose power is undreamed; thought is an omni-working power. It is the ruler and creator of all form and all events occurring in form. Physical energy is nothing in comparison with the omnipotence of thought, because thought enables man to harness all other natural power.” (Haanel 17:20)

magnetic fieldSo what is a dynamo? As I flunked Physics I thought it might be an idea to just look it up. “Dynamos and generators work using the complex phenomena of electromagnetism.” …..Oh, ok       This diagram shows how iron filings arrange themselves when subjected to a magnet…….. Now ‘imagine’ all those iron filings as ‘your thoughts‘! Wow……We usually describe the opposite poles of a magnet as North/South or Positive/Negative (guess I did learn something from all my physics lessons after all !!) Anyway, we can clearly see that both ends of the magnet attract equally……..like attracts like.

We have been learning so much through the Master Key Course. I discussed previously how our thoughts are things that have vibrational energy. Just like the natural Law of Gravity operates, and is evident to all, regardless of whether we studied physics or not, so the Law of Attraction also operates in our lives, regardless of whether we actually understand it or not. I used to think ‘The Law of Attraction‘ was some sort of new age hippy thing that didn’t apply to me!!!!! If you are not sure what I mean, hopefully this 10 minute video will help explain things.

So thought is vibrational energy, and the intensity of the emotion we feel when we focus on a particular thought is what determines the high or low frequency of the thought. We can not stop thoughts randomly popping into our heads all the time, but we can control how much time we spend focusing on things and we can choose how they make us feel.

“In realising great thoughts, in experiencing great emotions that correspond with great thoughts, the mind is in a state where it appreciates the value of higher things.” (Haanel 17:16)

conform tvThis week I followed through on a plan to change my life’s course and move towards the future ‘I‘ want, and not one that happens by chance or default due to my lack of intention. Earl Nightingale, in “The Strangest Secret in the World” (link) also tells us that it is conformity that causes human beings to live unfulfilled lives.

“If you concentrate on some matter of importance, the intuitive power will be set in operation, and help will come in the nature of information which will lead to success.” (Haanel 17:22)

This has been a turning point week for me and I am trusting in my intuition (direct perception of truth, fact, etc, independent of any reasoning process; immediate apprehension) and the power of my subconscious mind. How will I do this?……. Haanel tells me exactly how………

“Intuition arrives at conclusion without the aid of experience or memory. Intuition often solves problems that are beyond the grasp of the reasoning power. Intuition often comes with a suddenness that is startling; it reveals the truth for which we are searching, so directly that it seems to come from a higher power.” (17:23)

compass“Intuition usually comes in the Silence; great minds seek solitude frequently; it is here that all the larger problems of life are worked out.” (17:24)

One of our MKMMA tasks is to ‘sit’ in silence daily for at least 15 minutes and focus, thereby strengthening our skill and power of concentration. This was difficult at first but is getting much easier now and something I ensure I do without fail. It helps me feel calm, peaceful and energised. Living by the Compass and setting your intent is what its all about.

“Remember that fundamentally the subconscious is omnipotent; there is no limit to the things that can be done when it is given the power to act. Your degree of success is determined by the the nature of your desire. If the nature of your desire is in harmony with Natural Law or the Universal Mind, it will gradually emancipate the mind and give you invincible courage.” (17:25)

Short Glossary:                                                                                                               emancipate – “to set free from restraint, or bondage, or disability of any kind.”             invincible – “that cannot be overcome.”                                                                               courage – “the quality that enables men to meet danger without giving way to fear.”

The Hero’s Journey is underway.
