Week 15 All for our benefit
Natural Laws and Conscious Cooperation
“The laws under which we live are designed solely for our advantage. These laws are immutable and we cannot escape from their operation.’ (Haanel 15:1)
Haanel is not referring to the laws of the land, as in ‘thou shall not steal’ but the laws of the Universe, as in ‘gravity, electricity and attraction’. It makes perfect sense to us in the 21st Century that the laws of gravity or electricity are designed for our advantage. We use them every second whether we are consciously aware of it or not. These laws have always existed but we were unable to harness them fully until someone discovered them and how they work.
But what about the Law of Attraction? Do you pooh pooh it and scoff at those who profess it’s reality, or do you trust and believe we are all using the law every second whether we are consciously aware of it or not? 600 years ago many people thought the earth was flat and no one knew about electricity! Today we may laugh at their shortsightedness but are we any less shortsighted if we fail to recognise new insights and discoveries.
‘We cannot obtain what we lack if we tenaciously cling to what we have. We are able to consciously control our conditions as we come to sense the purpose of what we attract, and are able to extract from each experience only what we require for our further growth. Our ability to do this determines the degree of harmony or happiness we attain.’ (Haanel 15:5)
Throughout the Masterkey course we’ve discussed how the subconscious mind enables our bodies to keep working without any conscious effort on our part. Really…..can you imagine trying to do all the things you need to do everyday whilst continually having to remember to breath, pump your blood through your veins, digest your food, heal that cut, grow your hair, etc etc etc. OMG! STRESS!!
Imagine running for the bus and forgetting to remind our hair to keep growing at the same time? Would it all fall out as you jumped on board? How absurd! So logic suggests we have to accept the subconscious mind plays a vital role in our over all well-being.
On waking in the morning have you ever kept your eyes closed and allowed your mind to dream? You can feel the warmth of the sun through the window and hear the birds chirping outside; are you on a sun kissed beach with palm trees? On board a beautiful yacht drifting peacefully on the open water? Or in an old country house surrounded by apple orchards? Your imagination is flowing and you have the power to control your thoughts in any direction you want. Then you open your eyes and …….CRASH…. you are back in the reality of your bedroom and you’ve got 10 minutes to get ready for work!!!!!!! C***p
‘In order to possess vitality thought must be impregnated with love. Love is a product of the emotions. It is therefore essential that the emotions be controlled and guided by the intellect and reason.’ (Haanel 15:10)
So what is the difference between daydreaming and consciously directing our thoughts towards something that sets law of attraction in motion? Daydreaming is fun for exploring what we desire and sifting through ideas. But once we have decided what really stokes the fire in our belly, our soul , our love and passion for life, we can set our compass.
‘It is love which imparts vitality to thought and thus enables it to germinate. The law of attraction, or the law of love, for they are one and the same, will bring to it the necessary material for its growth and maturity.’ (Haanel 15:11)
Conscious, directed thought that is vitalised with feeling is what creates the magnetic pulling power. Ensuring those thoughts and feelings are based in love and vitality and not hate and darkness is our conscious choice. The law of attraction does not care what you plant, just as the soil does not care what we plant, and will return deadly nightshade as easily as it will a beautiful rose.
‘We manifest more and more life as our thought becomes clarified and takes higher planes. This is obtained with greater facility as we use word pictures that are clearly defined, and relieved of the conceptions attached to them on lover planes of thought.’ (Haanel 15:17)
Remember though, in chapter 14:26 Haanel also reminds us, ‘…..neither can you spend twenty or thirty years of your life building up negative conditions as the result of negative thoughts, and then expect to see them all melt away as the result of fifteen or twenty minutes of right thinking.’
We cannot stop thoughts popping into our mind all the time, and it takes time and practice to retrain our conscious mind to guide our thoughts and habitual patterns. For those who are prepared to do the work the future is bright. The you can be anything you want it to be.
